A digital initiative aimed at increasing use of modern reversible contraceptives among young married couples aged 15-24 in Bihar and Maharashtra through a cadre of social entrepreneurs and innovative digital tools.
Safal Couple is part of the YUVAA project focused on promoting healthy timing and spacing of pregnancy among young married couples and first-time parents in Bihar and Maharashtra, India. The initiative targets 1.2 million individuals over the period from July 2018 to June 2022 through a field-based network of 600 social entrepreneurs called Yuvaakaars.
The project addresses the need to increase awareness and adoption of family planning methods by providing information, counseling, and encouragement using both interpersonal and digital strategies. Key features include behavior modeling films, digital SBCC tools, an IVR audio episode series, and a mobile app called mPari for facilitating contraceptive counseling by healthcare and community workers.
Notable technical aspects include the use of digital innovations designed for scalable and effective behavior change communication. The website utilizes WordPress with Bootstrap for its frontend framework, supporting the dissemination of resources, project updates, and outreach information across multiple districts in Bihar and Maharashtra.
